u made your advances
but i was blind baby
ambition does that
or it was my youth maybe
lost in false power
i was indestructible
in that fleeting hour
success was mine
i was a blossoming flower
i bartered with the devil baby
sold my soul
an now the reapers come
the betrayal
i realise now baby
i realise
all this time i was pushing you away
but you were the only one to stay
the only one to stay
and weep my death
while others watched and turned away
its too late now
but hey baby!
before i go
i must say
i think i loved you
all the way
all the way...

the beach
i recently watched the de caprio starrer flick " the beach "
these r a few lines i liked.
"my name is richard.
so wat else do you need to know?
stuff about my family or where im frm ?
none of that matters .
not once you cross the ocean and cut youself loose.
looking for something more beautiful , something more exiting.
and yes i admit, something more dangerous.
So after 18 hours in the back of an airplane.
3 dumb movies 2 plastic meals 6 beers and absolutely no sleep,
finally touchdown in bangkok."
'hey you lookin for somwhere to stay?'
'no. i'll be fine.'
'i'll find my own place thanx.'
"and this s it bangkok.
good times city.
gateway to south east asia.
where dollars and deustchmarks get turned into counterfeit watches and genuine scars.
this is where the hungry come to feed."
'wanna drink snake blood?'
'wait a minute did you say snake blood?'
'yeah.'
'no thanx.'
'what is wrong with snake blood?'
'i...just dont like the idea.'
'well maybe you are scared, afraid of something new?'
'no. I just dont like the idea.'
'haha. like every tourist you are all you say. just like america.'
"so never refuse an invitation.
never resist the unfamiliar."
(drinks snake blood)
"never fail to be polite."
'gentlemen that was excellent.'
"and never outstay your welcome.
Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience,
and if it hurts, its probably worth it."
-----------
another scene.
"when you develop an infatuation for someone,
you always find a reason to believe that this is exactly the person for you.
it doesnt have to be a good reason.
taking photographs of the night sky for example.
now in the long run thats just the kind of dumb irritating habit that would cause you to split up.
but in the haze of infatuation, its just what you have been searching for all these years."

DEVIL'S OWN
you say god created earth, and he created man.
i say it was the devil. It was all his plan
in the furnaces of hell we boiled and rot
and by the devils whim we were all begot.
in this world that feeds on death and destruction
man killing man for joy, revenge and redemption
raped and ravaged all that was dear
the womb that once in travail had them bear
and shall for the rest of thy wicked posterity.
in this world predisposed to randomness
species survive through individual prowess
slash, kill and thriving on defeat
every competition is infected with malice
jesus bled in the wrong place, for the wrong chalice.
natural tendency to attain the unnatainable,
yet, however much might the tree toil
to reach the sun
yet its efforts are still fed by the earthly soil
its journey doomed from the starting gun.
i say this, and i say it again
man is the the devils opus profane
for he stands too much like him
he is the devil's own.

I
a self contradicting fool.
a man of half hearted attempts.
of unfinished tasks.
a man of forsaken dedications.
and no affections...
a man of abandoned resolutions.
and unkept promises....
a man low in spirits.
and lost love...
or love lost??
a self contradicting fool.
oh! such a pity.
a man of half hearted attempts.
of unfinished tasks.
a man of forsaken dedications.

To the better half of humanity.
have u seen a velvet smile behind the veil
or a tear that ran its course down the cheek
a virgin face forever hidden in anonymity
sheathed, protected, stunted, meek.
-------------------------
and she dreams of flight
a flight of fantasy
up in the clouds
into the realms of the lofty sky.
the worned street she treads
new avenues in the corner of her eye
where only her glance dreads
manacled feet unable to keep
a tear from a weep ,
a breath from a sigh.
childhood dreams lost time's abyss
lost, lost, left behind, put down.
by hands that are her own
people she knows, to protect their lass
in her dolls life she sees her own
only a doll, she forgets in glee
she waits for her frog-prince to set her free
oh but she doesnt know
my foolish little angel
oh my foolish little angel...
have u seen a velvet smile behind the veil
or a tear that ran its course down the cheek
a virgin face forever hidden in anonymity
sheathed, protected, stunted, meek.

post scriptum : a tonne of thanx to vivek fr the lovely sketch.
i bullied him into drawing it :).
the gud the bad and the 'catchy'
i dont hav much time...busy day tommorow so i'll keep it simple.
theres gud music and theres bad music and theres something called a 'catchy song' or a 'catchy tune'.now the one that is bad is downright bad...so that doesnt need much doing. its the (not so subtle) difference between the other two that seems for some reason convinently obscured from general comprehension.
okay so heres the revalation:good music is complex..multi layered and the tunes are longer and arent immedately obvious. you dont instantly go bananas for a gud song...it slowly appeals to your intellect on each replay captivating you more and more.if the term multilayered sounds wierd...lemme xplain..there are more than one tune that are going on simultaneously. this allows you to concentrate on diferrent ones on different plays. moreover the tunes are more complicated requiring greater attention to be fully comprehended.
"wat abt the song i really like" you say?well the songs that are instantly appealing...have a short simple somewhat gud tune ...if u may.but then its not exquisite. the fact that it is simple...is why it is instantly liked. yet the appeal is not lasting...there are no subtunes...nothing to be discovered...all lies bare in front of u in the first listen....such songs fade away..so thats that!"wat was that abt intellect?"well i dont mean to be a snob...but if u still like himesh reshamia or whatever man (woman), u r dumb!! :P
